Our Story – Pindsultani Railway Station

It’s difficult to explain how I got fond of the Railway stations so much that I have built my own. There is no example of any other doing this kind of thing, it’s just that I had love for Railways and Railway Stations like many others but I got the chance and will to build one.

I had this in mind for quite some time but it sounds too weird to even think and discuss with my parents for this proposal. In 2018 when we decided to lay a garden for olives in that land as that has been barren and we were not able to get much wheat from there, its then that I put in the idea of building the room like Railway Station along too.

In my mind it would be one room with some height (For platform) and white building with some writing on it. It started in 2018 and we were able to complete the first part (final part in my mind) by December 2020. It was then that I posted a video on my village page that some reporter picked it up and made news out of it in their newspaper. From there it never stopped. Lot of TV channels and youtubers came to cover this, all this fame helped in projecting a positive picture of our village.

How it Started:

So one day when I was sitting with my father and we discussed on how to utilize that land which is barren, we decided that we should plant an olive garden as that plant is good for hard lands too. So we had to do a bore for water and then a room to be used as a store room. Once this is decided I pitched my idea of building that room in the shape of a railway station. It will be a little bit more expensive than normal but it will serve both purposes. Father agreed and we started working on it from September 2017. At first step we built a 2 feet wall for the platform and then we filled that space with dirt to elevate it from the rest of the land. It was 125 metres long. Once that was done and dirt took its place we started on the foundation for the room. It was kept like this for one year and in September of 2018 we started building the room for the railway station. Grey structure was done in a month and then work stopped for a year or so due to shortage of funds. After a year we did plaster on the inside, but we did not plaster on the outside as we wanted it to give an old rough look.

In October/November of 2020 we painted the room and the baramda, and did the writing work on it. First video that I made of the Railway station was in December 2020.
